Important notice to all new prospective applicants before you begin the process: Remember that creating a mynsfas account does not mean you have registered for funding. After getting the account, log into it with your ID number and password then select the button to start the application process. Read all instructions and follow them to get approved easily and quickly.

What If I have forgotten my login details and password? Just go to the login page for mynsfas and choose a forgotten password. Then enter your id number and select which exactly you have forgotten (ie whether password or username). A link will be sent to the cellphone number and email used to register. Go to your email and follow the link to reset the password.

As a tvet student looking to continue at the university, will I be able to apply for funding using the 2023 platform? Yes, you can use the new platform to submit your application if you’re interested and have received admission into a university.

I have not yet received admission into the college/university nor have I applied to any university/college. Do I still qualify to be approved? No, you will not be approved for any funding from the agency. Funding is only given to those who have gotten admission even if they are yet to register or have already registered with the institution.

What are the requirements to meet? In order to successfully send in an application you must first be a South African citizen/permanent resident, be from a household that has a gross income of less than R350,000 per year and have an email and active phone number.

I’m a SASSA grant recipient. Do I qualify to apply and receive funding too? Yes, all SASSA grant beneficiaries qualify automatically on financial eligibility. This is because to be able to receive grants from SASSA means that you also automatically meet the requirements for funding.

What are the documents needed for the process? As a prospective applicant, you need to have a copy of your electronic original birth certificate or National ID (driver’s licence and affidavits will not be accepted) as proof of identity. Have an electronic copy of your parents, guardian or spouse id card, a copy of your smart card ( both sides of the card needs to be shown in the scan copy) and proof of income if you’re not a SASSA grant recipient. Remember all electronic copies must be very clear and not pixelated.

Use a scanner or a phone with a very good camera to scan the copies. Don’t let the hand shake while scanning the document else the resultant copy of it will be blurry. Also, remember that based on the application type, the system will generate a list of required documents you will have to upload. The documents may include some not mentioned above.
